A Simple Thank You Note To Recognize DSPs

Caregivers

Happy Direct Support Professional Recognition Week 2020! Direct Support Professional Recognition Week (September 13-19, 2020) recognizes the dedicated, innovative direct support workforce that is the heart and soul of supports for people with disabilities.

This week, we want to express our appreciation for all of the work Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide to the people they support across the U.S. The team at Scioto would like to express our gratitude for all the caregivers in our communities.

Caregivers give so much and receive so little in return. The least we can do is offer a heartfelt “thank you” to recognize the special people who work tirelessly to support those who need it. We have written a thank you letter to any and all the caregivers reading this.

Dear Direct Support Professional,

Thank you! You are doing an amazing job! You work long hours, in a physically demanding job, providing care for others while away from your family for very little pay. In an industry with low employee retention, we know you do this not for economic gain but for the satisfaction of caring for others.

A caregiver comes in a variety of forms. You may be an unpaid family member or you may receive a small stipend for helping our loved ones. All of you deserve thanks for the work that you do. There are a variety of professions that pay a higher salary you could have chosen and you chose to provide care to others.

As a Direct Support Professional, you put your own life on pause while you manage the daily activities of those in your care. That does not go unnoticed. We see you all around our community, in homes, schools, rehabilitation facilities, hospitals, and group homes. What you do matters, more than you realize.

The care you provide is not definable through mere words. Each of you meets the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs of those whom you provide care, giving support to all of us who may need it.

Please know that what you do is truly appreciated. You are respected. You are valued. We are truly grateful for all that you do!

Sincerely,

Scioto Properties
