On August 26, 2017, Hurricane Harvey destroyed homes, cut out power and forced the residents on the east coast of Texas and areas in Louisiana to flee in order to save their lives. Hurricane Harvey, a category 4 hurricane, was the first major hurricane to hit the United States in over ten years.
Scioto Properties has over 200 homes in the coastal plains of Texas and Louisiana and fortunately there were no reported deaths and many of the homes were reported to have only damaged roofs, fencing and fallen trees. Our Bosworth home in Houston was one home that was completely under water.
During a disaster like this, the focus needs to be on the safety of the people. Many of our providers were not only concerned for the people they support but also for their employees and their families.
We worked quickly to identify, assess the damage, find temporary housing and identify the companies that specialized in disaster remediation and repair. We worked with a local contractor who did a great job in a short amount of time. The Bosworth home restoration began on December 18, 2018 and we are happy to report that the remediation and remodeling has been completed ahead of schedule.
