At Scioto, we firmly believe it is important to give back to the industry. We are proud to include the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disorders on the long list of organizations we support.
As the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of professionals and citizens concerned about intellectual and developmental disabilities, AAIDD has been providing worldwide leadership in the field since 1876.
AAIDD’s mission is to promote progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They have aligned their core values with their primary goals:
1. Enhance the capacity of professionals who work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
2. Participate in the development of a society that fully includes individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
3. Build an effective, responsive, well managed, responsibly-governed, and sustainable organization.
AAIDD empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing knowledge and support. The AAIDD Texas Chapter will be holding it’s 38th Annual Convention in Houston, July 23-26, 2013. The theme for this year is Connecting Communities and Improving Lives, a theme that resonates with the entire Scioto family. Be sure to stop by our booth while you are there!
