Our housing programs and solutions help government agencies.

As government agencies define ways to help house people with disabilities, Scioto is available as an independent housing resource. We work with state and local agencies to separate housing from the provision of service and to facilitate choice and independent living options. We serve as a connector of other resources to help fund housing needs such as applying for housing grant dollars. Scioto can facilitate positive working relationships between families, providers and funding agencies.

Our customers describe the benefits of our service best:

Scioto has been receptive and flexible in adopting new ways of doing business to adapt to how affordable housing is funded in Washington. Scioto has shown a commitment to creating partnerships with local agencies that are positive and creative and that keep at the forefront the goal of creating the best possible housing for persons with developmental disabilities.

Beth Boram, DD Housing Planner, King County (WA) Housing & Community Development

Scioto has solved an ongoing problem for our agency. Our county MR/DD board has had very little support housing available. Finding Scioto has opened up brand new housing resources to us in this county.

Leah Holden, Supervisor of Independent Support Coordination,
Fairfield County MR/DD Board

I called Scioto; we had high hopes that they could help us. I’d say this housing option frees up service providers to concentrate on the other things they need to be doing for the consumer. For us it means someone else is doing the leg work.

Elmarie Brice, Transition Coordinator, Tennessee Department of MR/DD Homes
